Julia Ratcliffe
Oceania (New Zealand)
A proud Kiwi, Julia possesses a personal understanding of just how transformative bridging educational gaps at an early age can be to a young child. Having served as both a private tutor and a teacher’s aide in the unique educational system of her native New Zealand – a country with a unique indigenous population alongside a very diverse and burgeoning migrant population – she is excited to bring her first-hand educational experience to bear in support of the Preface mission.
Julia currently serves as an Economic Policy Analyst at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Outside of academia, Julia is also a world-class track and field athlete, representing New Zealand in international athletic competition in the hammer throw. A two-time Commonwealth Games medalist and the 2018 reigning champion, Julia also won the 2014 NCAA Championship and was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. She is currently pursuing a spot on the New Zealand Olympic Team for the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.
An alumna of the Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, Julia graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University, while simultaneously obtaining a certificate in political economy.
