Julianna Vitolo

Julianna is passionate about increasing the accessibility of education for children across the country. She has always endorsed a love of reading in her own life and believes that strong foundational literacy skills serve as an impetus for future success. As a fluent Russian-speaker, she believes strongly in Preface’s multilingual focus and is an ardent believer in the opportunities that multilingualism can unlock for young students.

Currently based in New York City, Julianna is a Venture Investor at Initialized Capital, focusing on early stage seed investments in the technology sector. Previously, she held roles at Union Square Advisors, a boutique technology-focused M&A investment bank, and as an associate at Citigroup within the Leveraged Finance investment banking division; and she has served as Preface's Head of Northeast Partnerships and its Director of New York Operations since 2021. She also serves on the Preface Scholarship Subcommittee.
 

Given her unique background in finance and technology, Julianna is extremely interested in the prospect of applying technological solutions to enhance the overall quality of education across America. In addition to Preface, Julianna currently serves on the Professional Advisory Council of Literacy Inc., a New-York based non-profit focused on improving literacy rates within the New York City public school system. 

 

Julianna graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Economics, while simultaneously obtaining a double-minor in Russian and International Relations.
