Preface Officially Named a Certified Presidential Volunteer Service Organization

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA. – In another milestone achievement in its mission to promote Literacy, Community, and Opportunity through student service across America, Preface has been officially named a certified Presidential Volunteer Service Organization by AmeriCorps and the Points of Light Foundation.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award was founded in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to honor the importance of volunteerism and service in the American experience. Continued under each administration on a bipartisan basis, the program enables select Certifying Organizations to recognize their exceptional volunteers who use their time and talents to serve and benefit the United States.

Thanks to this recognition, Preface is now able to bestow special achievement awards signed by the President of the United States to recognize its outstanding volunteer leaders across the country.

The awards, consisting of a customized certificate, a special Presidential Volunteer Service Emblem, and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States, will be awarded on a biannual basis by Preface’s newly formed Leadership and Service Commission, inaugurally chaired by Preface's Chief Operating Officer and U.S. Navy veteran Lieutenant David S. Via.

“It’s an incredible honor to be able to recognize some of our most outstanding volunteer leaders through the Presidential Volunteer Service Award,” said Preface’s Founder & Executive Director, Jonathan “JT” Wu. “Every single day, our selfless student Ambassador leaders and Preface Liaisons across the country are going above and beyond in their volunteerism, supercharging literacy and forging relationships and educational opportunities within their own communities. Ties like these are the fundamental fabric of American civic engagement, and all of us here at Preface are grateful to now be able to highlight exceptional spirits of service in such a meaningful way, thanks to this unique national partnership.”

Preface is proud to be given the opportunity to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award to their student Ambassadors and Preface Liaisons for their astounding volunteerism – a token of gratitude for the everlasting ripples of impact Preface volunteers have on communities far and wide.
