FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Just in time for the holiday season, Preface presented its school partners at Midland Park Primary School with thousands of dollars in special Legacy Gifts of sanitizers, disinfectant gels, and bilingual books to support their in-house library and future generations of young learners.

CHARLESTON, SC. – To celebrate its groundbreaking partnership with schools in Charleston County, Preface helped ring in the holiday season by donating a special Holiday Legacy Gift of bilingual books, alongside healthcare materiel provided by generous mission sponsor Earth Baby, to further support Midland Park Primary School, R.B. Stall High School, and the next generation in the greater Charleston community.

Established in 2020, the Preface Legacy Gift program serves as a customized nexus of both public interests and private funds, providing tailored selections of bilingual books to serve the unique communities within Preface partner schools. In conjunction with administrators and community leaders, each Legacy Gift is customized to meet the diverse linguistic needs of that school’s population – with an emphasis on bilingual publications that encourage English language acclimation alongside native language retention.

The special holiday Legacy Gift was presented by Preface leadership to Midland Park Primary School’s administration and kindergarten teachers, including Principal Elizabeth McCraw, Assistant Principal Sharon Morris, and Preface Liaisons Melissa Miller and Angelica Chavez, in a special ceremony earlier this month. Additional gifts were separately presented to R. B. Stall High School leadership, including Principal Jeremy Carrick. Collectively, these gifts of specially curated dual-language literature selections and all-important sanitizing products represent a multi-thousand-dollar donation of resources designed to bolster Preface’s Charleston partner schools and their communities.

“We’re here today in celebration of how this community is coming together to fight for the next generation - especially during these challenging times,” said Jonathan “JT” Wu, Founder & Executive Director of Preface. “These incredible educators here with us from Midland Park Primary are shining examples of how amazing teachers right here in Charleston County are transforming young lives and setting them on the path for lifelong learning success thanks to their love, their heart for their students, and just a little bit of innovation! We’re excited about continuing to expand and continuing to work with educators all across South Carolina to ensure that every child, no matter where they live or what language they speak, has the educational foundations that they need to pursue their own American Dreams.”

“We really want to thank JT and everybody at [Preface],” added Melissa Miller, Midland Park Primary’s Preface Liaison. “Our [students] are genuinely excited every single day to see their new friends in high school and get to read with them. I hear them reading in Spanish and in English, and I just know that this partnership will [continue to] be really great for all of those involved!”

Midland Park Primary also presented Preface with a gift of their own – a priceless poster-sized thank-you note signed by dozens of young students who will benefit from this Legacy Gift for years to come!
